Elsewhere's living museum, set within a former thrift store, is an interactive, evolving environment of objects, creatives, and creations. The living museum hosts events, performances, projects, and productions that activate the 58-year collection and foster communications between creatives and participants.
The residency program brings 35 creatives per year to Greensboro to create projects for the living museum and beyond. Artists, architects, designers, composers, writers, scholars, puppeters, work across media and discipline, experimenting with Elsewhere's site, objects, architectures, and evolving community of collaborators.
The collaborative laboratory designs learning experiences that explore collaborative models in theory and practice while hosting immersive, process-based investigations of material, context, concept, audience, and site.
Elsewhere takes living art to the streets of our South Elm neighborhood of downtown Greensboro. Our work begins at the facade of our museum, spills onto the sidewalk, populates our back alley garden, extends into our neighborhood, and spreads throughout our revitalizing downtown.
Etc. (elsewhere tenured collaborators), is an extended network of Elsewhere’s creative staff, stellar past residents, and inventive friends that produce responsive collaborative productions and works both within Elsewhere and elsewhere across the globe.
